Forest
This body of work explores my relationship with the tree spirit and the forest. Forests have always grounded me and nurtured my soul. A large part of my inspiration, play and spiritual practice comes from going into the forest to reconnect to this side of myself and to life.
I find endless inspiration from nature and the patterns growing in it. My recent work seeks to communicate a holistic worldview that all things are part of an indivisible unity or whole. All things exist in relation to one another. There is an intimate connection between the individual's inner and higher self. In order to see this unity I needed to cultivate intuition through play, connection and stillness of the mind.
In this body of work, I would go out into the forests and allow myself to experience myself as part of the forest. I would be inspired to explore, dance, climb and meditate. It was a place I felt comfortable to shed off the layers of fear, expectations, aspirations, guilt and and to just be. Back in the studio, I would try to stay in that state of mind and paint within this mood.
My work focuses on nature to call attention to to our current society's dysfunctional, fractured relationship with the force which created us. We are entering a new age where we are more aware than ever. Let’s explore how we can be in symbiosis with our higher selves, each other and with nature.
